The movie's central character, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), is an ex Marine who was wounded and paralyzed from the waist down in combat on Earth. Jake was chosen to be a part of the Avatar program, which will permit him to walk. Jake travels to Pandora, a lavish jungle-covered extraterrestrial moon packed with unbelievable life forms, some beautiful, many terrifying. Pandora is also home to the Na'vi, a sentient humanoid race, who are considered prehistoric, yet are more physically competent than humans. Standing three meters tall (around 10 feet), with tails and bright blue skin, the Na'vi exist in concord with their unspoiled world. As humans encroach deeper into Pandora's forests in pursuit of precious minerals, the Na'vi unleash their awesome warrior abilities to defend their threatened existence.
